RETURN TO PLAY RESPONSIBILITIES

CLUB

• Distribute and post Return to Play protocols
• Train and educate staff and parents on the Return to Play protocols
• Provide adequate field space for social distancing, as applicable to the various phases
• Assign a Covid-19 safety Officer
 
• Comply with all City/County return to play protocols
 
• Have coaches track attendance and groups at all practices.
• Follow all Return to Play protocols
• Send athletes home if they are not feeling well
 
•Ensure all athletes have their own individual equipment (ball, water, shin guards, penny, etc.)
 
• Ensure activities provide adequate social distancing, as applicable
 
• Respect players, parents and families by accommodating those that may not yet be comfortable returning
 
• Report any player who develops Covid-19 to club safety officer
 
• Perfom a wellness checklist with each player before each practice.

COACH

PARENT

• If you are not comfortable having your child return to play, DON’T
 
• Check child’s temperature prior to attending any activities
 
• Ensure child’s clothing is washed after every activity
 
• Ensure all equipment (cleats, ball, shin guards, penny) is sanitized prior to any activity
 
• Notify Club/coach if your child becomes ill for any reasons
 
• Supply your child with individual sanitizer
 
• Adhere to all social distancing expectations
 
• Ensure your child has plenty of water

PLAYER

• If you are not comfortable with returning to play, DON’T
 
• Adhere to all Return to Play protocols
 
• Wash hands thoroughly before and after all activities
 
• Ensure all equipment (cleats, ball, shin guards, pinnie) is sanitized prior to any activity
 
• Do not share water, food, or equipment
 
• Respect and practice social distancing, as required in these guidelines
 
• Place equipment, bags, etc. at least 6 feet apart
 
• No high 5’s, handshakes, knuckles, or group celebrations

Return to Play Safety Protocol: PHASE 1

 

Individual non-contact training sessions

 

Training Sessions May Include:

• Ball mastery and individual skill

• Shooting and crossing balls

• Passing and receiving

• Fitness and functional training

 

Training Session Restrictions:

• All training session scheduling has been staggered to provide a 10-minute gap between departing and arriving players

 

• Limited to 24 or fewer players. Individual training groups will be no more than 12 players

 

• Players are not allowed to head or hand the ball under any circumstances

 

• Minimum 6-foot social distancing between all participants throughout training

 

• Zero tolerance of non-contact policy (coach/player or player/player)

 

• Players will be required to participate in a wellness checklist prior to each practice

 

• Players with fevers or other symptoms are not permitted to practice and must be kept at home

 

• Players/coaches must use hand sanitizer before, during breaks, and after practice

 

• Players must wear face mask when arriving and departing practice sessions

 

• Coaches are required to wear face masks at all times (including during practice)

 

• No parents, siblings, or spectators are allowed on the field or on the sidelines

 

• No congregation of players or parents in parking lots, drop off zones, entrances/exits of facility, or before/after training sessions

 

• Players should not carpool to and from practices

 

• All sessions must be conducted outdoors

 

• Coaches and GKs must maintain 6 feet social distancing separation

 

• Individual/group keeper training session: the coach provides sanitized training balls

 

• GKs are required to clean gloves between training sessions with warm water and anti-bacterial/antiviral soap or anti-viral hand sanitizer

 

Club Responsibilities:

 

• A COVID-19 Safety Officer has been assigned to communicate and oversee policy across the club and to provide regular updates and important reminders

 

• Club has taken steps to be compliant with County/City Return to Play protocols

 

• Post Return to Play Protocol for players, parents, coaches will be posted on club website

 

• Support parents who may be uncomfortable having their child return to play

 

• Staff members have been trained to recognize COVID-19 symptoms per CDC and act accordingly 2

 

• Coaches are to ensure protocol compliance during all training sessions

 

• Coaches are to wear face masks and utilize disinfectant materials • Coaches are to perform a wellness checklist on all players before each practice

 

• Coaches are to maintain a roster which tracks player attendance for all practices

 

• Players are to participate in the same training group during each practice

 

• Scheduling of all training sessions has been staggered to provide a 10-minute gap between departing/arriving players to minimize group to group overlap

 

• Coaches are to immediately report any player that has Covid-19 to the club designated Safety Officer. The Safety Officer will immediately notify the training facility contact person. Coaches will immediately notify parents of all players in the same training group

 

• Designated drop off and pick up zones are to be established for each training session location

 

• All staff members, parents, and players are required to sign a Return to Play waiver

 

Coach Responsibilities:

 

• Follow all Club Return to Play protocols and compliance guidelines

 

• Comply with all local health agency and city protocols

 

• Support parents who may be uncomfortable having their child return to play

 

• Wear face masks at all times and utilize disinfectant materials as/when appropriate

 

• Perform a wellness checklist before each practice on all players

 

• Players who are not feeling well will be sent home

 

• Immediately inform the Club’s Official Designated Safety Officer if any player has Covid-19

 

• Ensure players have their own training equipment (ball, water, shin guards, backpack)

 

• Designate and strictly enforce: 1) specific personal training areas for each player to practice within, and 2) where players are to place their athletic gear during practice (backpacks, water). Areas must be clearly marked by cones or painted lines adhering to 6 feet separation

 

• Follow all training session guidelines (see Training Session Restrictions above)

 

• Limit training equipment (cones, bibs, soccer balls) brought to practice. Disinfect all equipment before/after use

 

• Do not allow any sharing of equipment, water bottles, backpacks, etc.

 

• Encourage players to bring their own balls. If balls are shared, players/coaches must disinfect before/after use

 

• Sign Return to Play waiver form

 

Parent Responsibilities:

 

• If you are not comfortable having your child Return to Play, DON’T

 

• Check your child’s temperature prior to attending all practices. If fever do NOT have child attend

 

• If your player has previously attended practice, and then you become aware that any member of your household has Covid-19, you are required to immediately notify your coach. The club point person will be required to notify the training facility

 

• Ensure all players equipment (ball, shinguard, cleats, backpack) is sanitized prior to any practice

 

• Notify the coach if your child becomes ill for any reason

 

• Supply your child with individual hand sanitizer

 

• Adhere to all social distancing expectations

 

• Ensure your child has plenty of water

• Ensure all equipment (ball, shinguard, cleats, backpack) is sanitized prior to any activity

 

• Do not share water, food, or equipment

 

• Respect and practice social distancing, as required in these protocol guidelines

 

• Place backpack 6 feet apart from your teammates

 

• No high 5’s, handshakes, knuckles, or group celebrations

 

• Sign return to play waiver

Return to Play Safety Protocol PHASE 2

 

• Recreational sports league scrimmages, games, and tournaments resume

 

• Have designated side-line space for each player to keep their soccer equipment and water bottle (6’x6’ area with 6’ between adjacent player area). Players must bring their own water. No sharing. No communal water coolers.

 

• Coaches may welcome each player as they come to the field but should not make physical contact with the player and should stay a minimum of 6’ away when greeting the player.

 

• Players are not to physically contact each other when greeting players at training, or before or after competitive play. Physical contact is only permitted within the rules of soccer during time of active, competitive play (no on/off field team huddles, no celebrations involving personal contact, etc.)

 

• Normal training sessions may begin. Competitive activities and games are allowed. Normal length of training sessions may resume.

 

• Players should use their own soccer ball whenever possible. At no time should they pick up, using their hands, another player’s soccer ball. Players should sanitize their soccer ball before and after each training session. If the coach supplies the balls for training/games, they are to be sanitized prior to each activity, immediately before being used as a game ball and at half time.

 

• It is recommended that all players attend each training session wearing the same color training gear or game gear

 

• If a club organizes more than one time slot for training using the same area, there should be a minimum of 20 minutes between the end of one training session and the beginning of the second session. Players waiting for their training session should remain in their cars until 10 minutes before the beginning of their training session.

 

• Parents attending a training session should follow the same guidelines as the players. Stay in their car until 10 minutes before the training session is to begin. If they are staying to watch the training session, they should stand/sit on the opposite touchline of where the players keep their equipment and families should stand/sit a minimum of 6’ away from another spectator who is not a member of their family.

 

• When training ends, please encourage the players, coaches and parents to promptly gather their equipment and move to their transportation as soon as practical to provide for a clear area for the next group.

 

• Games and tournaments are permitted. Sidelines should allow for each player to keep his/her soccer equipment and water bottle (6’x6’ area). Players must bring their own water. No sharing. No communal water coolers.

 

• Players not in the game should follow social distancing guidelines.

 

• Referee area should allow for social distancing

 

• Spectators attending games should follow the social distancing guidelines, a minimum of 6’ away from another spectator not in their family.

 

• Compliance with all local health agency and city rules.
